Charles Schwab’s voice is empowering, active and concise, which made them one of my favorite clients. I enjoyed the challenge of brevity while making complicated trading terms seem simple. I wrote for the Charles Schwab Active Trader product, which included web presence, trading tool guides, trader education, and digital trading demos.

A checking account might be one of the most difficult of the basic banking products to sell. Because it’s a sticky product in which many people have intertwined with automatic payments, online bill payments, etc., its especially tough to pull someone away from their current account to make the switch to yours.
Setting this account apart from our competitors, this campaign focused on identity theft protection and recovery services, features that are increasingly important given the sheer volume of records stolen in data breaches every year.

The credit union’s subsidiary specializing in financial planning wanted to reach a broader audience than their typical investor by advertising services for college savings plans.
This in-branch campaign targeting parents communicated the importance of beginning college savings early on in the child’s life.

Convenience. That’s what mobile banking is all about. These pieces show various features of the credit union’s mobile banking app, how they can make your life easier, and how banking transactions can fit seamlessly into your daily activities.

Though I do not manage the ssfcu.org web presence, my team and I were recently asked to revise the look and feel of the homepage. Through our use of rich lifestyle photography and clever content, we’ve given “dot org” new life.

Email plays an invaluable role to the credit union, and I’ve had the pleasure of heading the creative team who is responsible for it. Our very targeted approach to email coupled with our strong subject lines, has made it possible for us to maintain a 43% open rate, approximately 18% higher than industry average.

Commercial Lending wanted to squash the misconception that the credit union was incapable of financing multi-million dollar projects. They set their eyes on accumulating clients in the construction, medical, and auto dealership industries.
This newspaper campaign spoke directly to these top three targets, and made the bold statement that the credit union could back a $50 million project.
Months after the loan campaign launched, the department booked one of the largest commercial loans in their portfolio to date.

Rolling out Apple Pay capabilities to the credit union’s membership had it’s challenges, specifically how to educate an older, less tech-savvy demographic on how to use the service. A poster for awareness and a simple step-by-step take home piece were created to allow these members the opportunity to study the process and easily execute these digital payments. Emails were created as well.

When it comes to cash back and rewards cards, people want to know 1) what do I get and 2) is there an introductory bonus. Pretty simple. This campaign hits these high points instantly, with a design that shows it’s the “holy grail” of credit cards.

Oftentimes creatives need creative outlets. I was recruited to write restaurant reviews for a site called Local Sugar, an experience that deepened my love of food and trying new, locally-owned eateries.
